Proposed Fare Hike for Islamabad Metro Bus Services

Introduction:

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is contemplating a substantial fare hike for Islamabad’s Metro bus services, including the Orange Line, Blue Line, and Green Line. This potential increase comes in the wake of recent spikes in petroleum prices, placing an additional burden on the daily commuters who rely on public transport.

Fare Hike Proposal at Upcoming CDA Board Meeting
The proposal to raise fares for these Metro bus services is set to be presented during an upcoming CDA board meeting. The final decision regarding this fare hike will be reached at the meeting.

Projected 100% Fare Increase
The CDA is contemplating a significant fare hike of 100% for these services. If approved, the fare for the Green and Blue Line Metro buses will surge from Rs. 30 to Rs. 60. Meanwhile, the Orange Line Metro bus service fare is expected to climb from Rs. 60 to Rs. 100.

Punjab Mass Transit Authority’s Fare Adjustment
In parallel, the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) is also deliberating a fare adjustment for its Metro services, potentially raising the ticket price from Rs. 50 for the Metro bus and Orange Line train.
