Japan Announces Paid Internship Program for Pakistani Students
The Government of Japan, in collaboration with Pakistan’s PM Youth Program, has launched a paid internship program for Pakistani students. The program, which is called the METI Japan Internship Program, aims to provide Pakistani students with the opportunity to gain work experience in Japan and to learn about Japanese culture and business practices.
Types of Internships
The METI Japan Internship Program offers three types of internships:
- Commuting Internships: Participants in commuting internships will travel from their home to the company where they will be working every day. This type of internship provides participants with the opportunity to interact face-to-face with their colleagues and supervisor, which can help to promote effective communication.
- Online Internships: Participants in online internships can gain experience from the comfort of their own home or any other location. This type of internship is a great option for companies interested in expanding globally, as it allows for conducting surveys that are specific to certain locations. It is also convenient for foreigners, as they can take part in the internship without going through immigration procedures.
- Visiting Internships: Participants in visiting internships will stay at an accommodation facility within commuting distance of the internship site and commute daily. This type of internship is a unique opportunity to gain work experience in Japan while experiencing Japanese culture and lifestyle.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the METI Japan Internship Program, participants must:
- Be proficient in Japanese or English.
- Be 20 years old and not more than 40 years old by August 31, 2023.

Application Timeline
The METI Japan Internship Program offers two internship periods:
- Summer Internship: Mid-May 2023 to late June 2023.
